Man arrested after using rifle to break up argument

Felonious assault charges have been filed against a 48-year-old man after he fired a hunting rifle to try and end an argument.

Darren Lukkari, of Mass City, was arrested by the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department on November 10, 2013. An alleged fight had occurred between a man and woman in the kitchen of the residence. Lukkari was in another room and had asked the two individuals to stop arguing.

When fight didn’t end, Lukkari fired a hunting rifle into the floor next to the other man.

Police brought Lukkari into custody and he has been arraigned on felonious assault charges. Lukkari has a bond set at $20,000 and his next court date has not been scheduled yet.
