Truck with camper destroyed in accident
A man heading out on a camping trip ended up with more of an adventure than he expected Friday evening.
The man was driving along County Road 480 just east of Negaunee around 6:30 p.m. when he crashed, destroying the camper and heavily damaging the pickup truck he was driving.
The older model camper was an obvious total loss. The pickup came to rest on its’ side…with debris and gasoline spilled on the roadway.
The man’s girlfriend was following behind him in another vehicle. She told ABC 10 that the driver was not injured. She said everything seemed O.K. until the camper started to sway all of a sudden, which may have caused the man to lose control of the truck. She said this was his first trip with the recently acquired camper.
The Negaunee Police Department is handling the investigation. They have confirmed that no one in either party was injured in the accident, including a dog that had been riding in the pickup truck.
Personnel from Negaunee City Fire Department, EMS, and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the scene.
