NMU’s Lopes joins elite club
Northern Michigan University senior outside hitter Lina Lopes has enjoyed a successful career on the Wildcats volleyball team since her debut as a true freshman in 2010. Lopes recently joined NMU’s 1,000 career kills club.
The native of Belo Horizonte, Brazil tallied her 1,000th career kill against West Florida on Sept. 7. Lopes is now one of 14 players in the history of the program with at least 1,000 career kills.
Lopes currently has 1,074 kills, which is 12th all-time in school history. She is a two time GLIAC first team selection (2010, 2012).
Lopes and the Wildcats will play their first GLIAC opponent this season on Friday, Sept. 20 at home vs. Saginaw Valley State University.
