Forest Roberts Theatre’s season begins
The Forest Roberts Theatre recently released a laundry list of star–studded shows for the upcoming fall season.
The fall season kicks off this weekend with the world–renowned Second City players set to take the stage.
Northern Arts and Entertainment split the bill for the ‘Happily Ever Laughter’ production, which brought down the price to a fraction of what it would cost in the big city.
If you cannot make it to Second City, there are plenty of other Broadway–based, heavy–hitters coming down the pipeline in the months ahead.
“There’s a lot of buzz around town about our production of Les Miserables that’s going to feature Paul Truckey who was in the Broadway production and teachers here at Northern in our theater program,” Director of Theatre at NMU Ansley Valenine said. “I know a lot of people are very excited about that, and actually it’s going to involve a lot of actors from Northern as well as well known actors from the community so it’s going to be a pretty special production.”
“In February, we’re doing A Comedy of Errors. And that will be in our J.P. Blackbox Theatre,” Valentine said. “So folks that like Shakespeare it’ll be really great, for folks that are like ‘I don’t know if I like Shakespeare’ it’ll be really great because it’s a lot of slapstick comedy, and it’s going to be very close and a very colorful production.”
“Then in April we’re going to do She Kills Monsters, which is sort of a new play. I guess the best way to describe it is it’s like a live Dungeons and Dragons game. We picked that one because most of the main characters are women and it involves sword fighting and a big dragon.”
If you would like tickets to any of these shows there are couple ways to go about it. You can call to reserve a seat at (906) 227-2553, go to any NMU EZ Ticket Outlet. You can also get tickets at tickets.nmu.edu/online.
If there is a high enough demand, as has been the case in years past, Forest Roberts will even add an extra show.
