Wisc. man pleads guilty to third OWI
A Wisconsin man who led police on a car chase through Marquette Township pled guilty to his third OWI offense Wednesday morning in Marquette County Circuit Court.
Scott Upson, 37, of Green Bay was also charged with Attempting, Resisting, and Obstructing a Police Officer and fourth degree Fleeing and Eluding, but those charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department says a deputy initially stopped Upson for a traffic violation just after midnight in August on County Road 550 near Sugar Loaf Mountain, but Upson quickly fled northbound after the officer had approached the vehicle.
Police pursued Upson for a short stretch before boxing in his vehicle at the entrance of Wetmore Pond.
Police say Upson would not follow commands to shut off and exit his vehicle as he continued to drive back in forth in attempt to flee, forcing officers to taser him into submission.
Upson will be sentenced for his third OWI offense on October 11.
