Meth lab defendant backs out of plea deal
A Sault Ste. Marie man has backed out of a plea agreement in a meth lab case.
Twenty-year-old Cody McCoy opted to go to trial instead during his plea hearing in Chippewa County Circuit Court this morning.
No future court dates have been set.
McCoy faces 12 felony counts that range from possession of meth and operating and maintaining a meth lab to conspiracy to deliver meth or ecstasy.
Twenty-one-year-old Shelby Gauthier of Sault Ste. Marie is also facing a dozen felony counts in the same case.
Her trial is scheduled to begin on October 9th.
SANE — the Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement Team — arrested the pair in March.
Both suspects are being held in the Chippewa County Jail.
