Ishpeming man arrested on CSC charges
An Ishpeming man has been arrested on criminal sexual conduct charges.
On Friday, the Ishpeming Police Department arrested 44-year-old John Wayne Mathews on charges of accosting a child for immoral purposes and fourth degree criminal sexual conduct.
Accosting a child for immoral purposes has a maximum prison sentence of four years. The fourth degree CSC is a touching offense involving a victim between the ages of 13 and 16, and carries a maximum sentence of two years in prison.
Mathews was arraigned and is being lodged at the Marquette County Jail on a $200,000 cash bond. Mathews is due back in Marquette County District Court for a preliminary examination on August 20th.
