Gussert to play b-ball at MSU
Lexi Gussert has certainly proven herself a time or two on the basketball court.
The top ranked girls player in the state has been heavily recruited by some of the top women’s college basketball programs in the country.
This afternoon, Gussert announced that she will play basketball at Michigan State University, beginning the 2014-15 season.
“It was last night at 11:30pm, I was just sitting in my bed and I knew where I wanted to play basketball next year. I woke up both of my parents and I told them I really wanted to be a Spartan,” said Gussert.
Gussert’s decision to play at MSU was not an easy one to make.
She had offers twenty different schools, including Illinois, Tennessee, and UConn to name a few.
“It’s been a crazy process, but its been fun,” said Gussert about her recruiting experience.
“Now I am just really ready to enjoy the rest of my summer, but still keep the grind going. I want to do whatever I can to help Michigan State get better,” Gussert went on to say.
Gussert will play one more basketball season at Forest Park.
Last season for the Trojans, Gussert averaged 32.5 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.
She was a unanimous pick on the 2012-13 Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association ‘Dream Team’.
Gussert was also named the Class D Player of the Year by the Associated Press.
