Huskies earn All-America honors

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech seniors Melanie Hoffman (Pulaski, Wis.) and Nathan Saliga (Leonard, Mich.) each earned Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America honors for cross country/track and field recently.
Hoffman finished second in the javelin at the GLIAC Championships with a school-record throw of 119-2 and sixth in the heptathlon with 4,338 points.
She earned All-GLIAC honors three times in her career and holds three school records. She earned Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in the fall for women’s soccer and graduated with a 4.0 grade point average as a double major in exercise science and biology.
Saliga finished third in the decathlon at the GLIAC Championships with a school record and a NCAA provisional qualifying score of 6,424 points. He was a five-time All-GLIAC performer and holds the school record in the 400-hurdles with a time of 54.27. Saliga earned Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-America honors as a junior and graduated this spring with a 3.88 grade point average in mechanical engineering.
