1500 Ish. landline phones down

Landline phones for 1500 residents and businesses in the Ishpeming area are down after a cable was accidentally cut at a construction site in front of Lofaro’s Food Market earlier this afternoon.

Those who do not have access to a cellular phone are encouraged to seek out a neighbor for any outgoing calls.

Phone service is still unavailable at Bell Hospital and various Bell Medical offices located in the Medical Office Building adjacent to the hospital.

Hospital officials say the issue is being worked on, however there is not yet an estimated time of repair.

Until service is restored to phones at Bell Hospital and various Bell Medical Clinics there are two numbers that may be called to reach the hospital/clinic in the event of an emergency:

Calls that do not relate to an emergent issue be kept to a minimum to help keep lines free and available for emergencies.

All appointments at Bell Medical Offices, U.P. Eye Specialists and Advanced Orthopedic Associates are still as scheduled today.
