Brown looks to make his mark at NMU
We’ve all heard the saying ‘sometimes change is good.’ If Tom Brown left Winona State for Northern Michigan University to be the next men’s head basketball coach, it would be a big time change.
Brown is the associate head coach at Winona State, a Division II school in Minnesota. He has spent the last fourteen seasons as head coach Mike Leaf’s right hand man.
The Warriors have been a very successful program, especially in the last ten years, winning NCAA Division II Championships twice, in 2006 and 2008.
Leaving Winona State could be difficult for Brown. He played basketball there from 1988-1992. Brown has been a part of the Warriors basketball program most of his adult life. But he says he is ready for the challenge of rebuilding the team at NMU.
During Browns tenure at Winona State, twelve different players have earned All America honors.
Valley City State head coach Jeff Kaminsky will visit NMU on Wednesday. Bill Sall, the head coach at Ferris State, wraps things up on Thursday.
