HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech has cancelled today’s annual spring football intrasquad game due to weather. The snow and drifting from yesterday’s storm left Sherman Field unplayable.
“It’s unfortunate we can’t play today,” said head coach Tom Kearly. “The spring game’s always for the players, and they’ve worked really hard this spring to improve themselves.
“I want to thank Pete Pelissero, Jerod Ledgerwood and the rest of the Michigan Tech grounds crew for their help the last few weeks. Their work in clearing Sherman Field allowed us to get outside for nine practices.
“We know our players really wanted to get this game in, but they realize that Sept. 14 is right around the corner.”
Michigan Tech will open its 2013 football season at Tiffin Sept. 14. The 2013 home opener at Sherman Field is set for Sept. 21 vs. Walsh.
