Two teachers honored as “Best Science Teachers in the U.P.”

Two Marquette teachers have been named the “Best Science Teachers in the Upper Peninsula”.

The Northern Michigan University Chapter of Sigma Xi and Marquette Area Public Schools would like to congratulate Mary McKinney from Bothwell Middle School, and Jesse Kainulainen from Marquette Senior High School, for being selected the Best Science Teachers from the UP.

Sigma Xi is a national society of science, math and engineering.  Each year their chapter selects from nominations a Best Science Teacher award to a deserving high school and middle school teacher from the UP.

As part of this award, the honorees will receive a plaque from the Sigma Xi National Society and a check for $100.

McKinney and Kainulainen will be honored at the annual banquet scheduled for April 17 at the NMU University Center.
