Woman involved in car-train accident in court
A Gwinn woman was in court Wednesday in connection with a car – train accident that injured three members of her family.
Samantha Jo French, 24, appeared for a preliminary hearing in Marquette County District Court.
She was bound over to Circuit Court where she will be arraigned April 19. French is charged with two counts of Operating Under the Influence Causing Serious Injury and one count of Possession of Marijuana.
The car-train accident happened March 28 in Little Lake. Police say French failed to stop for an approaching Canadian National Railway train. Her 5- and 6-year-old children were injured, and so was her mother.
French was not injured in the accident. The incident is still under investigation.
French is lodged in the Marquette County Jail on a $305,000 bond.
