Woman arrested for OWI following car/train accident

Three members of one family are injured and another is in jail after a train- car accident in Marquette County. The woman driving the car has been arrested.

It happened on Ski Hill Road in Little Lake, one block north of M-35 just before 6 p.m. Thursday.

The Forsyth Township Police Department says the woman was driving a Chevy Impala northbound on Ski Hill Road and did not see a Canadian National Railway Train.

The train was westbound on the tracks.

The police say there were no lights or gate bars at the intersection.

Four people were in the car. Three people were trapped in the car, including two children – ages 5 and 6. The driver of the car, who is the mother of the children, was arrested for operating while intoxicated. She is lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

The children and the driver’s mother were transported to the hospital for the treatment of unknown injuries.

The driver of the train was not injured. The incident is still under investigation.
