Goal to raise a million dollars for Alzheimer’s research
MOUNT PLEASANT, MI – A Mount Pleasant man has announced his effort to raise $1 Million or more for Alzheimer’s Research – by putting his body through grueling physical challenges all around the country. Brad Kloha will run in 100 races in 52 weeks to reach his goal. The 100 races will include races of all distances and include many of the more popular mud and obstacle races such as Warrior Dash, Tough Mudder, and Spartan Race.
Kloha who works at Central Michigan University, will run most of the races on weekends, meaning he will typically be running in two races per weekend, on some occasions however, he will run compete in three races in a single weekend.
“I know that running these races will present both a mental and physical challenge, but in the end, if I’m able to achieve not only the goal of raising the $1 million, but also increasing awareness of the disease, it will all be more than worth it,” Said Kloha. “Even though I was unable to do anything to help my great-grandmother and grandmother during their battle, I hope this will honor them and help others in the future.”
Kloha’s grandparents suffered with the disease and are the motivation behind his effort.
“Watching my grandmother’s 13 year battle with the disease and the helplessness I felt not being able to do anything to help her, knowing there was no cure, is part of the reason I created this project in order to support the research to find a cure so in the future other families may not go through the same thing,” Kloha said.
Kloha is seeking sponsors to help raise enough money to hit his $1 Million goal. With the site only being posted for one week, Kloha’s efforts have raised over $3,000.
