One woman has died after a car accident in Chippewa County Wednesday.
Sheryl Mastaw, 46, from Kincheloe, died as a result of her injuries following a two car accident.
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened just before 5 p.m. on M-129 near 10 Mile Road.
A northbound vehicle was passing another northbound vehicle when it lost control on the icy road. The passing vehicle was hit by a southbound vehicle.
Three other people were taken to War Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
M-129 was closed for several hours.
The accident is still under investigation. The sheriff’s department was assisted by the Border Patrol and the Sault Tribe Police Department, mainly with traffic control.
The sheriff’s department also says they responded to three other rollover accidents on Wednesday; icy roads, wind and driving too fast for road conditions appear to be contributing factors in those accidents.
