Farewell mass for Archbishop

The Diocese of Marquette announced earlier this year that Bishop Alexander Sample would soon be leaving.

The Bishop will be taking the post of Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Portland Oregon.

This weekend those wishing Archbishop sample good luck with his new position, will have a chance to say goodbye. Archbishop Sample was ordained as a priest for the Diocese of Marquette in 1990. He has served as bishop of the diocese for the past seven years.

This Sunday at 3 p.m., the Archbishop will be leading a special farewell mass at St. Peters Cathedral in Marquette.

Archbishop Sample will be installed as the Archbishop of Portland on April 2nd. His final mass as a member of the Diocese of Marquette is set for the Easter vigil mass on March 30th.
