Three people injured in Houghton Co. accident
Poor road conditions are being blamed for an accident that sent three people to the hospital Saturday afternoon in Houghton County.
At 3:45 p.m., the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle accident on M-26, near Woodside Location Road in Osceola Township.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, 19-year-old Stephanie Trezona of Hubbell, was driving westbound on M-26 when she lost control of her vehicle on the slushy roadway.
Her vehicle slid sideways into the path of an eastbound pickup truck driven by 77-year-old Ivan Tolley of Dollar Bay. Tolley was unable to avoid the collision and struck the driver side of Trezona’s vehicle.
She was extracted from her vehicle and transported to Portage Health along with her two passengers, 19-year-old Kayla Deroche and a 15-year-old girl.
Trezona was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, and was transported to Marquette General Hospital for further treatment. Tolley was not injured in the accident.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor, however the accident remains under investigation.
The Hubbell Fire Department, Dollar Bay Fire and First Responders, Mercy Ambulance, and Dave’s Towing and Superior Service all assisted at the scene.
