Motor Vehicle Network in SOS offices across Michigan

LANSING, Mich. – A new digital video network has been installed in Secretary of State offices across Michigan at no cost to taxpayers in a public-private partnership that provides customers with helpful and entertaining messages, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced this week.

The Secretary of State’s Office has a three-year agreement with Motor Vehicle Network (MVN) to provide digital communications on large, high-definition monitors in the busiest Secretary of State offices. More than half of the offices in the state now have the network and more will have monitors installed shortly.

“We are pleased to provide the Motor Vehicle Network to customers in our busiest branch offices,” Johnson said. “Our new in-office network provides news and other important information that visiting customers will find useful.”

MVN, of Norwalk, Conn., offers programming without audio that includes educational content supplied by the department about programs and services, up-to-date news and sports headlines, weather information, trivia and a limited number of sponsor-paid ads that allow MVN to provide the system without charge. The network also has the capability to post real-time Amber Alerts and other emergency announcements.

“We’re pleased to partner with the Secretary of State’s Office to bring customers news and information to help make their visit to an office more enjoyable at no cost to taxpayers,” said Brad Savage, the MVN vice president of operations.
