NMU’s Coreau earns CCHA honor

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.- Junior goaltender Jared Coreau, of the Northern Michigan University hockey team, has been named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Warrior Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season.
Coreau, a native of Perth, Ont., stopped 84 shots in a series split with Lake Superior State over the weekend. He was one short of a career-high with 50 saves in a 3-1 win on Friday. Coreau stopped 32-of-34 shots in a 3-0 loss to the Lakers on Saturday.
In his third season with the Wildcats, Coreau has started all 36 games and is 15-17-4 between the pipes. He has a 2.59 goals against average and a 92.1 save percentage.
The 10-seeded Wildcats travel to No. 7 seed Michigan this weekend for the first round of the CCHA Tournament.
Coreau was the CCHA Goaltender of the Week on Jan. 7 after the St. Cloud State series. His career-high for saves was 51 at Notre Dame on Dec. 11, 2010.
