Beckman resigns as Westwood football coach

The search is underway for a new football coach at Westwood High School. Jon Beckman has resigned as head coach of the Patriots football program.

Beckman had been the head coach at Westwood the last two seasons, where he compiled a 9-9 overall record. The Patriots made the playoffs in his first season. He has spent the last twenty years as a football here in the Upper Peninsula at Negaunee and Westwood.

Beckman tells ABC 10 Sports that he wants to spend more time with his family. He and his wife have three boys all under the age of 11. Beckman is also the Athletic Director at Westwood.

A search is underway for the next head coach to lead the Patriots football team.
