NMU ROTC Run-A-Thon
Army ROTC cadets at Northern Michigan University had veterans on their minds this morning.
They were raising money for care of older veterans.
The NMU Wildcat Battalion held its sixth annual Run-A-Thon this morning inside the Superior Dome.
The cadets ran an average of 30 to 40 laps in the two-hour run around the dome, which comes out to an average of 10 to 12 miles per cadet.
Half of the money remains with the battalion to help pay for its military ball.
The battalion donates the other half to the Jacobetti Home for Veterans.
The cadets raise money through pledges from local businesses and residents.
The Jacobetti Home uses its share of the proceeds to help fund activities and the community trips that its veterans take.
The cadets were out of bed and at the dome at 6 this morning to pound the pavement.
