Crystal Falls man arrested after car chase
An 87-year-old man from Crystal Falls is in police custody after a brief car chase in Iron Mountain Monday morning.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department says the man had made threats against Edwards Chevrolet on Saturday and Monday.
A deputy saw the suspect’s vehicle driving southbound on M–95 and attempted to make a traffic stop. The man refused to stop, and attempted to run into another Sheriff’s Department vehicle at the intersection of M–95 and U.S. 2. The suspect then traveled eastbound on U.S. 2 where he attempted to hit an Iron Mountain Police squad car.
The man continued along the highway and his vehicle was blocked as he tried to enter the Edwards Chevrolet parking lot.
The man was taken into custody and is lodged in the Dickinson County Jail on charges of Fleeing and Eluding, Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer and Driving on a Suspended License.
His name is being withheld, pending arraignment.
The Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Iron Mountain Police Department, the Michigan State Police and the Kingsford Public Safety Department.
The accident remains under investigation.
