Ishpeming City Council talk about city’s future

The Ishpeming City Council held a special meeting Tuesday morning.  The only agenda item was to take the first steps in identifying the city’s future plans.

The City Council, along with some department heads, had an open dialogue about what direction they wanted to see departments in the city take as they plan for Ishpeming’s future.

A document was created in 2009 that had similar objectives.  This time they want to condense the list into smaller more realistic goals.

Goals listed by Ishpeming Mayor Mike Tall, and other members of the city council, were to be more accessible to the public, and act more like a Board of Directors rather than micromanage.

Another issue that was discussed was to eliminate unnecessary spending and all surplus vehicles.
