Stippel leads MTU Women in win over Walsh

CANTON, Ohio – The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team remains unbeaten in GLIAC play after an 80-64 road win at Walsh Saturday (Dec. 1).
“As a team we grew and got better today,” said head coach Kim Cameron. “We committed ourselves to defense and took care of the basketball. We came out strong in the second half and didn’t let up. Our young players got some valuable minutes that will help us be a better team.”
Junior Taylor Stippel led the Huskies with a game-high 19 points. The Stillwater, Minn., native shot 9-of-14 from the field and grabbed five rebounds, three on the offensive end.
Senior Sam Hoyt scored 12 points, and freshmen Kylie Moxley reached double digits for the second consecutive night finishing with 11.
Tech’s defense held Walsh to 28-percent (17-61) from the field. The Huskies out-rebounded the Cavaliers 49-39.
Tech out-scored Walsh 42-29 in the first half and 38-25 over the final 20 minutes.
Tech (4-1, 2-0) will host Findlay Thursday (Dec. 6).
