Busy Houghton Co. Circuit Court Docket
A Hancock man will spend the next several months in jail for his part in stealing an elderly woman’s purse.
19–year–old Michael Hylton was sentenced today to 11 months in the Houghton County Jail with credit for 136 days already served.
Last month, a jury convicted Hylton of larceny in a building.
Back in march, 17–year–old Corey Hansen of south range was sentenced to a year in jail for his part in the theft.
Hansen then testified against Hylton in his trial.
25–year–old Philip Provost of Lake Linden also appeared in Houghton County Circuit Court on two counts of breaking and entering a building with intent.
The case involves a pair of businesses in Lake Linden.
Provost’s attorney said he needs more time to review a potential plea agreement with his client.
The pre–trial conference has been rescheduled for next week.
27–year–old Joshua Adkins of Laurium also appeared for a pre–trial conference in his criminal sexual conduct case.
Adkins is accused of having sexual relations with an 11–year–old girl.
He’s facing one count of first–degree CSC and three second–degree counts.
Adkins’s attorney asked for another status conference to allow for time to review evidence.
The trial is scheduled for November.
