Rollover accident injures four

Four people were hurt in a rollover traffic accident in Humboldt Township this morning. State Police from the Negaunee post say it happened on U.S.–41 shortly after 9:30.

52–year–old Gary Smith of Spring Valley, Illinois was heading west when he turned his Jeep Patriot south onto M–95. He turned into the path of an eastbound full sized Chevy van, driven by 51–year–old Wayne Prochaska of downstate Lake Orion.

Both vehicles left the roadway, and the Jeep rolled over. Smith, and two teenage passengers in the Jeep, were taken to Marquette General Hospital with non–life–threatening injuries.

A passenger in the Chevy van sought her own treatment for minor injuries. Police gave Smith a ticket for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
