Governor Proclaims September “Hunger Action Month”
The Food Bank Council of Michigan is pleased to announce that Governor Snyder has proclaimed September as Hunger Action Month. Hunger Action Month (HAM) is a national awareness initiative started by Feeding America, urging individuals to Speak Out Against Hunger™.
FBCM Executive Director Kareemah El-Amin says, “I am very excited as well as encouraged by Governor Snyder’s lending of Michigan support to this vital national campaign to bring awareness to hunger in our great state.”
To address hunger in Michigan and support HAM, the FBCM hosts the Michigan Harvest Gathering, an annual food and fund drive benefitting all food banks and pantries around the state. To donate to the FBCM or your local food bank, visitwww.feedmichigan.org. The Kick-Off for the Michigan Harvest Gathering is at 10 am on September 13th, at the Farmers’ Market at the Capitol, in Lansing, MI.
