Meth suspects back in court
Appearing in Houghton County Circuit Court today…22-year-old Kurtis Stough of Marquette pled not guilty to Attempted Manufacturing of Methamphetamine and Operating a Meth Lab.
Both charges carry possible penalties of 20 years in prison and/or a $25,000 fine. A pre-trial hearing will be held in about four weeks. Stough was one of four people arrested in relation to a suspected meth lab closed down by police in late June.
21-year-old Kendall Clifton of Hancock plead guilty to Attempted Possession of Methamphetamines as part of a plea agreement in exchange for his testimony against the other suspects.
Clifton faces up to 10 years in prison and/or a $15,000 fine. Sentencing was scheduled for next month. 25-year-old Nicole Saatio and 26-year-old Michael Newberry—both of Chassell—have court appearances pending.
