Group saved from Picnic Rocks
It was a joint effort among law enforcement officials and the Coast Guard that helped to rescue four individuals from the Picnic Rocks Area in Marquette this Friday evening.
The Marquette City Police and Fire Departments were notified just after 6:00 p.m. that four people had wadded out to Picnic Rocks. The individuals were notified by park personal to not leave the area and wait for help. The Coast Guard responded and evacuated them one at a time. The incident is still under investigation.
Swimming is not permitted in the Picnic Rocks area. The Marquette City Police Department issued citations to each of the swimmers for violation of entering an area that is prohibited by a City Ordinance.
The three men and one woman – all in their 20’s – reside in the Kansas City area, and were touring through Marqeutte.
