First NFL Woman Official Working Packers Game
The NFL’s player lockout last year attracted a great deal of attention.
The league’s lockout of its officials this year has not.
One of the replacement officials assigned to the Packers–Chargers preseason game Thursday night will make history as soon as she steps on the field.
Shannon Eastin will be the line judge for that game, which will make her the first woman to ever officiate an NFL game.
Eastin is going into her 17th year as a football official.
She’s spent the past several years refereeing in the Mid–Eastern Athletic Conference.
That conference is in the NCAA’s Football Championship Subdivision, which most fans still know better by its old name, Division I–AA.
