Tourism Tuesday: Marquette Maritime Muesum
While Lake Superior offers great beaches and boating, it also provided the foundation for the City of Marquette.
In this edition of “Tourism Tuesday”, we visit the Marquette Maritime Museum.
It celebrates the lake, the shipping industry and what it has done for the City of Marquette.
Visitors to the museum get a first hand look at how the lake directly affected the city of Marquette.
Exhibits range from early shipping to the brute force and unforgiving ways of the lake.
One of the highlights and often times a favorite of visitors is the glass domes collected from old lighthouses on the great lakes.
The museum is open seven days a week from 10 to 5.
August is Maritime month.
The museum will be offering sunset lighthouse tours as well as walking tours from the lower harbor to the lighthouse.
