Synthetic Marijuana Bust in Menominee
The ban on selling synthetic marijuana in Michigan just went into effect back on July 1st, and the first major arrest relating to the new law has now been made in the Upper Peninsula.
The Menominee Police Department arrested four people on drug charges last night.
Three men and a woman were arrested after a search of Ma’s Smoke Shop on 10th Avenue in Menominee.
Police say they found synthetic marijuana, known as ‘spice’ or ‘K2’.
Legislation signed recently by Governor Rick Snyder made it illegal for stores to have this substance.
The Menominee Police temporarily closed the smoke shop.
Police also found narcotics and a large amount of cash and are still looking for two other suspects.
The investigation is continuing.
The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team, the Menominee and Marinette County Sheriff’s Departments and the Marinette Police Department assisted at the scene.
