UPPCO power to be restored by this evening
Ishpeming, MI – Early morning thunderstorms brought high winds and lightning to the Upper Peninsula Power Company’s service territory. There are currently about 35 separate outages involving more than 800 customers in Houghton and Baraga counties.
There are also about 600 customers out of power in the Ishpeming and Gwinn areas.
The high winds and lightning snapped several poles and downed lines as a result of falling trees. UPPCO crews have been working throughout the night and will continue working today in these areas. UPPCO expects to restore power to all customers by sometime this evening.
