Truck Hits Power Line

Power was out for awhile in Negaunee this afternoon, but it had nothing to do with the weather.

Around 2 O’clock this afternoon, a semi pulling out of Fox Negaunee onto Maas Street hit a low hanging wire.
The Negaunee City Police and Negaunee Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

The driver of the 18 wheeler was forced to stay in his vehicle while crews from the power company dealt with the downed line.
Several businesses and homes lost power in the area.
No one was hurt in the accident.

Officials say the driver did the right thing in staying in his truck.
They warn that if you come across a downed line, you should never touch it.
If you are inside your vehicle and a wire hits it, you should stay in your vehicle to avoid being electrocuted.
