McDowell's Save Our Retirement Tour
A U.P. native running for Congress visited Marquette today to talk with older residents about Medicare.
Gary McDowell of Rudyard is running as a Democrat.
He visited the Norlite Nursing Center as part of what he’s calling the Save Our Retirement Tour.
McDowell spoke with residents and signed a pledge to protect medicare, saying that one of the first votes Congressman Dan Benishek made in the House was to cut Medicare to free up money for tax cuts for the wealthy.
McDowell is a former state representative, and he’s run for the Michigan 1st Congressional District seat once before.
He lost the general election to Benishek two years ago.
