Ishpeming couple arrested in Marquette stabbing
Two 19 year old Ishpeming residents have been arrested in connection with a Marquette stabbing early Monday. The Marquette Police Department says Danny Lee Weymouth and Taylor Shantel- Julann Mitchell have been lodged in the Marquette County Jail since Monday afternoon on Felonious Assault charges.
The attack happened just before 1:30 a.m. Monday at 520 Wright Street. The original police call was to respond to a woman screaming. Marquette Police Detective Captain Gordon Warchock says that officers learned about the stabbing on the way to the scene.
The victim, 19 year old Zachary Skinner, lives at the home. He was taken to Marquette General for treatment and was released later Monday.
According to police, a fight broke out between Skinner and Weymouth. During the fight, authorities believe Mitchell – Weymouth’s girlfriend – joined the altercation. Police say during the fight, the woman used a knife to stab Skinner once in the head, leg and back.
The investigation is continuing. The Ishpeming couple is expected to be arraigned Tuesday, pending formal charges from the Marquette County Prosecutor’s office. Marquette City Police were assisted by the Ishpeming Police Department.
