June 10 Prayer Service for Healing in Marquette
It has been 10 years since the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops approved the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People in 2002. In an effort to bring some healing to all those affected by the sexual abuse scandal during the last decade, Bishop Alexander Sample of the Catholic Diocese of Marquette will preside over a Prayer Service for Healing in the Body of Christ on Sunday, June 10, at 3 p.m. ET at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette.
Those encouraged to attend include victims/survivors of abuse, families of victims/survivors, people whose faith has been shaken, priests, deacons, counselors, those who have abused, parishioners of parishes where abuse has occurred, clergy who are ashamed or whose morale has been diminished, people who have lost hope or are struggling to understand and anyone in the local community who wishes to come.
The Prayer Service for Healing will not be a Mass, but will include music, readings from Sacred Scripture, a homily from Bishop Sample, a litany for healing and intercessions.
