UPDATE: Manistique Fatal Accident
The Manistique Public Safety Department has released the name of the person who was involved in a fatal accident at Manistique Papers.
53-year old Debbie Carlson of Manistique was killed. The accident happened when the forklift she was using to transport paper bales on rolled onto its’ side.
Manistique Public Safety officers were dispatched to Manistique Papers.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers determined that Carlson had sustained fatal injuries. The officers then transported Carlson via Public Safety Ambulance to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and then to the Messier and Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique.
Carlson had worked at Manistique Papers for 32 years. There were no other paper mill employees involved or injured in the accident. Manistique Public Safety Officers received assistance from the Sault Tribal Police Department.
