PUEBLO, Colo. – Michigan Tech junior Dylan Anderson qualified for the finals of the 800-meter run after finishing eighth in the prelims at the NCAA Div. II Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday (May 25). He ran a time of 1:52.15, the fifth fastest in school history, to finish fifth in his heat.
“I didn’t quite run the race like I wanted to,” said Anderson. “Finishing fifth and having to wait was tough. I was luck they didn’t run that fast in the second heat. The pressure has definitely been lifted after making it out of the prelims.”
“We are pretty excited that he gets to compete another day,” said head coach Joe Haggenmiller. “Hopefully he can build on his eighth place ranking and come back tomorrow with another great effort in the finals. This is an outstanding honor for our program.”
Anderson will compete in the finals Friday (May 26) at 9:05 eastern time. A live web stream of the race is available at www.ncaa.com.
