Agreement in Backroom Obsessions Case
A U.P. businessman’s novelty store in Marquette will remain closed in exchange for a drug charge against him being dismissed.
Michael Jestila of Houghton will also be barred from doing business in Marquette County.
He and his attorney were in Marquette County Circuit Court today.
They’ve reached a consent agreement with the county Prosecutor’s Office.
Circuit Judge Thomas Solka has continued the temporary restraining order that has kept Jestila’s Backroom Obsessions store in Marquette closed.
Jestila was accused of selling fake bath salts and other illegal substances out of that store.
He was arrested in January and charged with unlawful delivery and manufacture of a designer drug.
Jestila had been expected to plead not guilty.
He also owns a Backroom store in Houghton, and it’s not clear yet what will happen to that store.
