Ishpeming City Council Recall Challenge

Three Ishpeming City Council members are challenging some of the signatures on the recall petitions filed against them.

There’s a recall effort underway by supporters of former Ishpeming Police Chief Jim Bjorne.

The group is trying to recall council members Elaine Racine, Claudia DeMarest and Mike Tall.

Today was the deadline to challenge the validity of the recall petition signatures.

And Marquette County clerk Peter Dishnow says all three council members are challenging some of the signatures.

Dishnow is reviewing the challenged signatures.

He says he should complete the review by next Monday.

487 signatures against each council member have to be verified for the recall process to move forward.
