Pharmacists as a Health Care Resource
The high cost of health care is a serious problem for many Americans.
We have free access to a health care expert at local pharmacies, but many of us apparently forget about that option.
In December, vitamin producer Nature Made surveyed 500 pharmacists nationwide.
They said that only 51% of their customers come to them with questions about prescription medications.
They said just 23% of customers ask them about vitamins and supplements.
And only 35 percent ask a pharmacist about over–the–counter products.
Doug Anderson, the pharmacy director at Bell Hospital, says pharmacists can consult with you about all those things, and then some, to make your health care more effective.
He says if any medical questions you have are outside the scope of a pharmacist’s practice, they’d be happy to help coordinate your care with physicians.
