State House Campaign Kick-Off
Michigan voters will go to the polls for the Presidential primary on February 28th.
And that attention to the campaign trail at the presidential level is beginning to filter down to the state and local levels.
An Alger County man visited Marquette this morning to kick off his campaign for the 109th District State Representative seat.
Jack Hubbard of Grand Marais is a Marquette native, and he’s running as a Republican.
He’s served as Burt Township Supervisor since 2006, and he says that in that job, he’s had to work quite often with members of the state legislature.
Hubbard been one of the people behind the effort to restore the Grand Marais harbor breakwall.
After decades of waiting, the project is going out for bids this week.
Hubbard says it should go out on Wednesday and construction should begin in May.
Marquette Democrat Steve Lindberg is currently in the 109th District House seat, but he’ll have to leave office next January because of term limits.
