Prison Smuggling at Kinross
A downstate woman is awaiting arraignment after being arrested this morning in an attempted smuggling incident at a U.P. prison.
State Police from the Sault Ste. Marie Post say the woman is from downstate Pullman and was born in 1981.
Her name won’t be available until after she’s arraigned.
The incident happened at about 10:30 this morning.
The woman was arrested for marijuana possession at the Kinross Correctional Facility in Kincheloe.
Police say they believe she may have been making a trial run to prepare for a future attempt to smuggle higher-grade controlled substances than that.
State Police from the Soo Post say the issue of smuggling is an epidemic at U.P. correctional facilities.
