Hockey Coach Fired for Suspected Marquette Hazing
A downstate high school hockey coach has been fired because of a suspected hazing incident during a team trip to Marquette last weekend.
The Howell Public Schools have fired Randy Montrose and two assistant coaches.
The school superintendent was told that players walked around Flanigans Bar in Marquette while wearing women’s undergarments.
Photos of the incident have since surfaced.
The district says in a statement that Montrose and two assistants were present and involved.
Montrose told school officials the walk was a longtime tradition during the team’s annual mid–winter trip to Marquette.
The school district hired an interim head coach earlier today.
