HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech hockey coach Mel Pearson today announced the lineups for Saturday’s (Jan. 7) intrasquad game at Calumet Colosseum. The Huskies’ 31 players will split into Black and Gold teams for the game, which will begin at 5 p.m.
“I remember during my playing days we used to have intrasquad games in Calumet, and I really enjoyed those experiences,” said Pearson. “With the bye week in the schedule, I felt like it was important for our team to get the best game-like atmosphere we can to prepare for next weekend’s series against Alaska Anchorage.”
The teams will play two, 25-minute halves with an autograph session for fans during the intermission between halves. The game will be completed by 6:30 p.m. to allow the Colosseum to be cleared out before the Calumet vs. Brighton High School game at 7:30 p.m.
The price for admission to the intrasquad game is a non-perishable food item. The hockey team hopes to collect a significant amount of food to donate to a local food bank.
Assistant coach Damon Whitten will coach the Gold team while volunteer coach Steve Shields will coach the Black.
