Quarry Lake in Manistique Re-opened

The colder temperatures have made safe freezing conditions at Quarry lake in Manistique. But the Manistique Public Safety Department is still asking the public to use caution on the frozen body of water. Manistique Public Safety re–opened the lake located in the Central Park of the City of Manistique today. Quarry lake has been closed to the public since mid–December due to extremely unsafe ice conditions caused by the unseasonably warm weather. Public safety officers have tested the ice and the thickeness now averages about 8 inches. However Officers warn the public that they are using Quarry Lake at their own risk and that the ice should always be regarded as dangerous. Residents are asked to report any dangerous situations or violations by dialing 9–1–1.
