Gron named CCHA Player of the month for December

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today that Northern Michigan senior Tyler Gron has been named the RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month for December.

The 5-foot-11, 199-pound forward produced a league-leading eight points (3-5-8) in only three games. He netted a power-play goal, recorded three multi-point nights, and earned a +4 rating in December. Gron currently sits in a tie for seventh in the CCHA in goals scored (9) and leads the Wildcats in points (17).

The Spruce Grove, Alb., native began his stellar month with a goal and an assist in Northern Michigan’s 2-1 win over Miami on Dec. 2. The following night, Gron notched three assists to help the Wildcats to a 5-1 victory and a sweep of the RedHawks. After missing the two-game series at Lake Superior with an injury, Gron returned to the lineup and scored twice and added an assist in the Wildcats’ 4-1 non-conference win against Michigan Tech on Dec. 16.

Special mention for RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month of the Month honors goes to Lake Superior junior forward Domenic Monardo, Michigan senior forward David Wohlberg, Ohio State senior forward Danny Dries and Western Michigan junior forward Dane Walters.
